Could you be the full-time Project Manager – Durban (Limited Duration) we’re looking for?


Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your project management expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a dynamic and collaborative team of professionals, all committed to delivering excellence in the rail industry.

You'll drive the execution of the Traxx Africa project, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements, customer expectations, and Alstom’s project management processes. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (including engineering, procurement, and operations), manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure compliance with quality, safety, and performance standards.

You’ll specifically take care of project governance and strategy definition, but also lead and coordinate project activities from transfer to close-out.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Driving project Quality, Cost, Delivery, Planning (QCDP) and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) performance
  • Defining and implementing project strategies in line with contract requirements
  • Leading and coordinating project teams, including internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and managing change at the project level
  • Proactively managing risks, savings, and opportunities
  • Managing project progress, reporting KPIs, and ensuring transparency with senior management
  • Maintaining strong customer and external stakeholder relationships
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable rules, standards, and ethical guidelines


All about you

  • Master’s Degree or Postgraduate/Honours Degree in Project Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing operational scope
  • Hands-on experience in an industrial environment
  • Experience working in multi-national companies and diverse business cultures
  • Proficiency in tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Projects, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Knowledge of the railway industry (advantageous)
  • Working experience with Oracle Primavera (preferred)
  • Agile, responsible, and inclusive mindset
  • Strong negotiation skills and customer-focused approach
  • Team management and collaboration abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel between sites as required
  • Valid driver’s license
