About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager who will be responsible for leading and delivering strategic and operational initiatives within the newly established Faculty. The role supports the planning, development and implementation of projects that enhance organisational effectiveness, strengthen governance and processes, and enable the successful delivery of faculty priorities.

Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders, the Project Manager will contribute across the full project lifecycle including project initiation, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. The role requires strong analytical capability, effective stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations that support informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Project Planning and Delivery: Lead and coordinate the planning and delivery of strategic and operational projects aligned with organisational priorities.

  • Develop project plans, briefs, reports and other documentation to support project delivery and informed decision-making.

  • Monitor project progress, milestones and outcomes to ensure delivery within agreed scope, timelines and resources.

  • Project Management and Governance: Apply appropriate project management methodologies and maintain project documentation, reporting and governance processes.

  • Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies to support successful project outcomes.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support project delivery.

  • Prepare high-quality reports, briefings and presentations for senior leadership and facilitate meetings and consultations as required.

  • Change and Continuous Improvement: Support organisational change initiatives and contribute to the review and improvement of processes, systems and governance arrangements.

This is a full-time, continuing position at HEW Level 8. This position is predominantly based at Herston, with periodic work at St Lucia.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with postgraduate qualifications (or be in progress towards postgraduate qualifications) in business, project management or a related field or an equivalent combination of qualifications and workplace experience. In addition, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing medium to large-scale projects, ideally within a large and/or complex organisational context

  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant project management tools or equivalent practical methodology for monitoring project progress

  • Experience using project management programs and applications

  • High-level interpersonal skills, including the effective liaison and negotiation skills needed to develop and maintain strong working relationships, ideally within a tertiary setting

  • Demonstrated high level organisational ability, attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities

  • Experience leading change initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, and strategic planning to ensure successful adoption and sustainability.

  • Previous project management experience within a tertiary and/or research institution would be highly valued
