- Defines project goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of customer objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies.
- Plans, organizes, manages, and controls projects in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by Worley.
- Supervises project personnel through subordinate leaders.
- Exhibits leadership skills necessary to achieve project goals.
- Typically manages multiple small projects, a single medium project, or a portion of a large or mega project within the organization and/or for customers, with daily operational responsibilities.
- Responsible for implementing and administering project and Worley policies and procedures to successfully achieve project objectives.
- Works with others on the project team to develop technical and functional solutions aligned with strategic project objectives.
- Ensures solutions are derived from available resources provided internally and/or externally, including policies and procedures.
- May serve as Proposal Manager for small to medium projects.
- Ensures Worley methodologies, processes, tools, and systems are applied throughout the project and that compliance requirements are met.
- Applies knowledge of all aspects of a project (engineering, procurement, quality control, etc.) to oversee the successful execution of the project plan.
- Ensures the design team is aware of and complies with the customer’s Basis of Design and applicable codes and regulations.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrates understanding of engineering project delivery workflows and coordination.
- Has basic exposure to and understanding of procurement, subcontracting, and on-site construction support.
- Applies in-depth knowledge of customer contracts to the oversight and management of the project.
- Demonstrates strong understanding and application of business drivers and financial reporting standards.
- Tracks cost and schedule performance and uses analytical skills to forecast trends.
- Tracks and analyses project design deliverables and design quantities; understands project cost build-up, including gross margin.
- Ensures proper change control processes are understood and applied by the project team.
- Understands contract invoicing terms and company cash flow requirements, including accounts receivable, work in progress, and Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
- Is experienced in preparing a Project Execution Plan covering all aspects of the project scope.
- Incorporates lessons learned from previous projects into execution planning.
- Manages execution and coordination activities and implements regular reviews and controls to track project progress.
- Demonstrates good understanding of Project Control Reports, identifies problem areas, and implements recovery plans.
- Interprets and understands key elements of the project schedule and resource plan.
- Incorporates Value Creation and Sustainable Solutions objectives into the project plan, measures progress, and delivers outcomes.
- Identifies and understands the customer’s key drivers and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Manages customer representatives and other key stakeholders.
- Manages and nurtures customer and stakeholder relationships in line with established expectations and communication protocols.
- Builds relationships of trust and respect, with the ability to discuss project progress, challenges, and issues transparently.
- Identifies existing and emerging project risks and develops effective mitigation, contingency, and resolution plans.
- Follows Worley risk management procedures.
- Maintains a detailed risk register that is kept current and reviewed and communicated regularly (at least monthly).
- Uses Risk Register items as the basis for project contingency budgeting.
- Effectively communicates and takes a leadership role in preparing and presenting proposals and reports to staff and management.
- Implements clear communication protocols, processes, and tools for the project team.
- Clearly communicates project requirements, contractual obligations, customer expectations, KPIs, and project status to the project team.
- Creates an environment that promotes open communication and builds a high-performing team based on trust and respect.
- University degree, or equivalent, in a related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Certified Program Management Professional by a globally recognized project management organization (IPMA, APM, PMI, AIPM) (Desirable).
- Typically 12+ years of experience, including 10 years of relevant supervisory, project management, and/or technical experience; workshare experience; Engineering (E) and Engineering & Procurement (EP) project experience.
- Demonstrated Project Management experience leading small and medium projects or portions of large projects; experience across EPCM and EPC, including site assignments.
