Job Description

The Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of crane rental projects. This role provides administrative, logistical, and communication support to ensure crane operations are scheduled efficiently, delivered safely, and comply with all applicable collective agreements, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

The Project Manager works collaboratively with supervisors, operators, and riggers to facilitate successful project delivery.

Project Coordination & Administration

  • Coordinate crane rental projects from booking through completion, ensuring all required documentation and approvals are in place

  • Support Supervisor with project schedules, timelines, and resource planning

  • Maintain accurate and complete project files, including contracts, permits, lift plans, prejob documentation, and job records

  • Track project milestones and provide timely updates to internal stakeholders

Scheduling & Logistics

  • Coordinate crane and operator requirements

  • Work closely with operations and supervisors to ensure proper crew assignments

  • Confirm site readiness, access conditions, and lifting requirements prior to mobilization

  • Identify potential scheduling conflicts and escalate issues as required

Customer & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as a point of contact for customers regarding project coordination, scheduling, and documentation

  • Communicate job details clearly to internal teams, including operators and field supervision

  • Support customer inquiries while ensuring alignment with operational and labor agreements

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Support compliance with Canadian occupational health and safety legislation (e.g., OH&S Acts, CSA standards)

  • Assist with the preparation, distribution, and review of lift plans, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and site specific safety requirements

  • Verify that required certifications, equipment inspections, and documentation are current prior to dispatch

  • Promote and support the company’s safety culture and safety management systems

Financial & Reporting Support

  • Assist with job costing, tracking of project labor and equipment utilization, and change documentation

  • Support invoicing processes by validating job tickets, timesheets, and supporting documentation

  • Maintain accurate records for audit, billing, and reporting purposes

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve coordination processes, project flow, and communication between departments

  • Assist in implementing new administrative systems, procedures, or reporting tools

Required

  • Diploma or degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 2–5 years of experience in project coordination within construction, crane rental, heavy equipment, or industrial services

  • Experience working in or alongside a unionized environment

  • Strong organizational, documentation, and multitasking skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP or scheduling systems preferred

  • Drivers license

Preferred

  • Knowledge of crane operations, lift planning, and construction site logistics

  • Familiarity with Canadian OH&S regulations and CSA crane standards

  • Experience supporting COR, safety audits, or regulatory inspections

  • Project Management certification (CAPM, PMP) is considered an asset
