We're looking for a dynamicProject Managerto join our Pulp, Energy and Circularity business area inShanghai,China
In this key role, you will be the central figure responsible for delivering complex projects that meet our customers' goals and uphold Valmet’s reputation for excellence. You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams, manage customer relationships, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Your responsibilities
Sales phase support
• Participate in the final negotiations with the customer, when required
•Support sales with project and contract related matters as defined according to business line specific instructions
Customer relations
•Main contact for the customer for the whole scope, including Valmet’s external partners
•Establish and maintain a good proactive customer relationship throughout the project
• Member of project steering committees, when applicable
•Proactively collect and mediate necessary information to/from customer and the Valmet project team
Contractual issues
•Review the contract and, when necessary, negotiate clarifications with the customer.
•Ensure an aligned Valmet view for contract, change, and claim management across all participating Project Managers
•Change management, including initiation of inquiries and contract amendments when the scope of supply is changed
•Manage the contractual obligations and deliverables, especially considering the signing of milestone certificates, such as “taking over”, “start of warranty period” and “final acceptance”
• Confirm opening of L/C
• Make sure project execution in compliance with contract
Project execution
• Be involved in final split of the customer order to various sub-units within Valmet and ensure that internal PO's are issued
•Define the project organization and identify the need for resources, which are provided by the line organization
•Work with participating parties early in the project, establishing contact between the project groups, creating good cooperation, and establishing the formal guidelines to be followed throughout the project
•Coordinate relevant activities, such as HSE, time, quality, cost, contractual interpretations, change management, with participating Valmet units and external partners
• Check and comment on the project budget at project start
• Project and product risk and opportunity management within the project
•Responsibility for project main schedule and coordination of schedules (Valmet units and partners)
• Lead activities in order to maximize the financial result
• Maintain project forecast
•Ensure that the project execution model activities are completed in timely manner for the project
•Cooperate with procurement and discipline coordinators in the purchase of major equipment packages, subcontracted services, and systems
• Overall project progress follow-up and reporting
•Follow up critical activities handled by the local project manager, such as project location country specific permits
•Follow up of financial matters and payments from customer and involvement in approving the invoice prior to it being sent to the customer, i.e. ensure the invoice trigger point has been met
•Follow up to ensure that project documentation fulfils the main requirements and schedules
• Communicate changes and decisions affecting participating parties
• Overall responsibility for the mill site activities led by the Site Manager
• Handling of warranty issues during the warranty period
• Follow up to ensure performance is in accordance with the contract
•Communicate project feedback and summarize lessons learned throughout the project
HSE
Ensure that the following actions are taken for both Valmet and subcontractor personnel:
•Project HSE instructions and requirements are shared between relevant parties, e.g. Valmet, customer, and subcontractors
• Project’s HSE risk assessment and site-specific HSE planning is done
•Project’s HSE tasks are completed as specified in HSE risk assessment and site-specific HSE plan
•Project is carried out in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and Customer and Valmet HSE standards and rules
• Resources needed to complete HSE tasks are available
Expectations for you •Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (pulp & paper, Mechanics, Energy or related areas).
•More than 5 years relevant experience from project management in pulp & paper or other process industry.
• Solid experience in Project management.
• Fluent English (speak, written and read).
• Readiness to travel.
• Excellent organization and complex solution analysis skills.
•Excellent presentation and negotiation skills in our multilevel customer organization.
•Ability to develop and maintain relationship within multilevel customer organization.
• Organizational skills with a problem-solving attitude.
