Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Kaipara-based team and play a key leadership role in delivering civil maintenance and construction projects across the district.

This role is all about strong leadership, smart planning, and safe delivery. You’ll support the Contract Manager while leading project teams to deliver works on time, within budget, and to a high standard—while championing a Zero Harm culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage end-to-end project delivery across renewals, maintenance, sealing and surfacing works
  • Develop project methodologies, programs, budgets, and procurement strategies
  • Manage site activities to achieve programme, cost, quality and safety targets
  • Oversee subcontractors and suppliers to ensure value for money and quality outcomes
  • Monitor project forecasts, costs, margins and month-end financial performance
  • Manage contractual obligations, variations, claims and reporting
  • Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, suppliers and internal teams
  • Lead, coach and develop Contract Engineers, Cadets and site teams
  • Drive a strong Zero Harm, quality and environmental culture across all projects

You’re a confident leader with a solid background in civil construction or maintenance, and you thrive in a role where accountability, collaboration and results matter.

  • Proven project management experience in civil construction or maintenance
  • Strong financial acumen, including forecasting, cost control and margin management
  • Experience managing subcontractors, teams, plant and resources
  • Demonstrated leadership that empowers, motivates and develops others
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, quality and environmental excellence
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field (preferred)
  • Knowledge of RAMM (advantageous but not essential)
