Are you an experienced Project Manager seeking to join a reputable commercial construction company with year-on-year growth?
You’ll bring experience in commercial construction project management; we’ll provide the energetic staff to support you and set you up for success.
About the role
You’ll be joining our Project Management Team delivering projects from $500K to $10M. We’re a flexible builder who undertakes a wide range of projects, so you will be exposed to a number of different project types, clients, and various project sizes. You’ll be responsible for managing the programme, overseeing the project budget, and leading the project team consisting of a Contract Administrator and Site Manager, including some mentoring along the way. Reporting directly to our Managing Director Callan, you’ll also have the support of our Construction and Administration teams to assist and support through day-to-day activities. You’ll have a laptop, company phone, and work primarily at our newly refurbished office in Klemzig – free off-site parking just northeast of the CBD.
We’ll empower you to deliver some interesting projects, but here’s some of what you’ll get up to:
• Lead project teams to complete projects on time and to budget.
• Manage project risks and resolve any issues that arise.
• Develop relationships with clients, key subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Scrutinise subcontractors' quotes and make risk-calculated decisions.
• Actively help train up the next generation of building professionals.
You’ll enjoy a balance of purpose and life by managing projects and mentoring, with the support of managers and administrators to ensure nothing gets missed.
Here are 5 things we think will make you ideal for this role:
1. Past experience in Project Manager roles in the commercial construction industry.
2. Strong understanding of construction processes and procedures, specifically with how to build and manage a project program using MS Project.
3. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
5. Enthusiasm to pass on your knowledge to others with a positive and can-do attitude.
And here are a few reasons why we’re afraid you might not:
1. Whilst we do a wide variety of work, we don’t build skyscrapers in the CBD. If your interest is in large or high-rise construction, that’s not us, and we’re not meant to be.
2. We are a medium-sized family builder and rely on our team to all be hands-on and help wherever needed. If you’re not prepared to roll up your sleeves and show the team how it’s done, then this isn’t the role for you.
3. We rely on trust and independence, we’re not into micro-management or handholding. If you find it hard to take ownership and be held accountable, we’re probably not the best choice for you.
Did you know we are also a Certified Great Place to Work™? We genuinely offer a great company culture on the back of our Mykra Mindset values:
