We are seeking an experienced Head of Project Management Office (PMO) to lead and enhance project coordination, controls, reporting, and administration across a diverse portfolio of construction projects ranging from high-volume maintenance works to major capital projects valued at $200M+.

Reporting to the Project Director, this leadership role will play a critical part in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and compliance standards.

Job Description

As the Head of PMO, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Projects Team, supporting Project Directors, Program Managers, Project Managers, Supervisors, and site-based stakeholders through every stage of the project lifecycle.

You will be responsible for driving consistency across project systems, controls, reporting, governance, resource planning, and project administration while leading a small team of Project Administrators and HSE Administrators.

This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced project environment and enjoys improving processes, systems, and team capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Project and HSE Administrators, ensuring high-quality support across the project portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain project reporting frameworks, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate project controls including planning, scheduling, cost tracking, forecasting, risks, variations, and milestone management.
  • Support effective resource planning and utilisation across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project systems, processes, governance, and reporting.
  • Maintain standardised project management tools, templates, and workflows.
  • Support contractor onboarding, procurement activities, and project documentation compliance.
  • Partner with operational and project leaders to improve project delivery outcomes.
  • Facilitate training, coaching, and capability development in project management systems and processes.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

You are a proactive and solutions-focused leader with strong project governance and stakeholder management experience. You enjoy bringing structure to complex environments and have a passion for improving systems, processes, and reporting capability.

You will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in project management, project administration, project controls, PMO, or a similar role.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, facilities management, or related project-based environments.
  • Demonstrated success implementing and improving project management systems, processes, and governance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, risk management, and reporting.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and reporting tools.
