Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
Position responsibilities include centrally tracking Ship Alterations (SHIPALTS) and Alteration & Improvements (A&I) at the group‑level man‑hour detail. Reporting to the Technical Products Manager at the Newport News Shipbuilding Submarine Planning Yard, the analyst will maintain Microsoft Project schedules for all alteration projects, capture and reconcile actual labor hours by work‑group (e.g., foundation, electrical, piping), and generate weekly/monthly variance reports that highlight planned versus actual consumption and emerging trends. Using the data, the analyst will model future workload scenarios to assess whether current engineer/designer staffing can meet projected demand, and will present findings and staffing justification to SUBE leadership. The position requires 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Project on large‑scale engineering schedules, strong Excel/Power BI reporting skills, proven ability to collect and clean detailed labor data (preferably in shipbuilding or defense), and excellent written and oral communication for senior‑level briefings.
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 4 year of relevant professional experience
