REPORTS TO

Assistant Resident Engineer or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.

Applications are invited from suitably competent individuals to fill the position of Project Liaison Officer for Contract SANRAL N. 003-012-2017/1R on a fixed term contract. The successful incumbent will be contracted by the Project Engineer (SMEC South Africa (Pty) Ltd) engaged by SANRAL for the implementation of the Project.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum qualification – Must have passed Matric (Grade 12).
  • Valid Driver’s License with own licensed vehicle
  • Experience in either Community/Project Liaison, or Project Management, or Administration is required and must be reflected in CV (minimum of 1 year).
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in local languages present in eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCY

  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) inclusive of report writing skills and minute taking.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including attention to detail, maintain consistency and the ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Project Planning and implementation together with problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • Construction experience will be an advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide Secretariat function to the Project Liaison Committee (PLC).
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the site taking direction from the Contract Engineer and Resident Engineer.
  • Facilitate and coordinate labour matters on site
  • Assist the parties to the PLC to resolve any disputes, which may occur due on the Project.
  • Other than the document records to be kept as mentioned above, the PLO is to keep records of all other documents and processes pertaining to the employment of Targeted Labour.
  • The PLO is expected to produce and submit a monthly report to the PLC, on PLC and other meetings attended, as well as Targeted Labour employment, issues around the project Stakeholders and affected Community matters and any other Project matters that impact on the parties to the PLC. Plan, coordinate and implement community liaison activities.
