Requisition Summary

Seeking an engineer with interests in creating, defining, and owning project plans related to High Voltage Battery development. As a Project Lead Engineer within the Battery Department, the primary responsibilities will include creating and maintaining project plans, owning deliverables related to cost and timing, and reporting out status to key stakeholders within PACCAR.

The focus will primarily be on internally developed products within Global Powertrain.

Organization Information

PACCAR Powertrain is the newest business unit within PACCAR, dedicated to delivering advanced powertrain solutions for Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF trucks. This includes the development of sophisticated heavy-duty engine technologies, along with essential support functions such as testing, validation, and aftersales service. Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Responsible for engineering definition, development, design, validation, and release planning related to high voltage batteries.
  • Collect, define, and integrate design, validation, and production activities to form a cohesive plan towards production of HV Batteries.
  • Align with other project lead engineers and project managers to build the full powertrain plan for production.
  • Support the engineering team in establishing deliverable dates, aligning suppliers and internal stakeholders to the master timing plan.
  • Own assigned electrical components or subsystems, including requirements definition, interface coordination, validation planning, and maintenance of design documentation across the product lifecycle.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse set of stakeholders (PACCAR Divisions, Suppliers & Customers) and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Domestic and international travel up to 20 %.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably within vehicle, automotive, or heavy duty commercial platforms.
  • Excellent professional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are required.
  • Proactive team player with strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong experience with High Voltage Battery systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience in validating and industrializing components for mass market deployment.
  • Working knowledge of tools: Creo/Pro Engineer and Windchill preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Tier 1 partner in product development preferred.
  • Working knowledge of battery pack system, electrical architecture, thermal architecture, vehicle architecture, and mechanical design of commercial vehicles preferred.
  • Hands-on experience and manufacturing experience desired.
  • Experience in program management preferred.
