Job Description

The Role

This role sits at the centre of a sector-focused platform working to unlock commercially and politically viable transition pathways in India's chemicals and fertilizer ecosystem.

You will be responsible for driving execution-ready strategies across green ammonia and low-carbon fertilizers by aligning policy design with industry realities. Success depends on your ability to move multiple actors toward concrete positions, decisions, and commitments within defined timelines.

You will operate with significant autonomy, but within an established institutional framework that spans multiple industrial sectors and geographies.

What You Will Do

Sector Strategy & Delivery

  • Lead the development of a time-bound transition roadmap for green ammonia and fertilizers, grounded in techno-economics, policy feasibility, and market readiness.
  • Translate sector analysis into specific policy design inputs, market mechanisms, or implementation pathways.
  • Own delivery milestones over a 12–18 month horizon, including tangible outputs that influence real-world decisions.

Industry & Policy Alignment

  • Work directly with fertilizer manufacturers, ammonia producers, technology providers, and industry bodies to surface constraints, trade-offs, and adoption barriers.
  • Support the development of industry-backed positions that can credibly inform government policy and regulatory design.
  • Engage policymakers and regulators to test, refine, and stress-test proposals based on evidence and sector feedback.

Expert & Partner Management

  • Commission and manage targeted research, modelling, or technical analysis where required.
  • Coordinate small, high-trust working groups rather than open-ended forums.
  • Ensure alignment across technical experts, industry participants, and policy stakeholders.

Representation & Influence

  • Represent the program in closed-door sector discussions, technical workshops, and policy consultations.
  • Contribute to cross-sector learning within the broader platform to inform work in adjacent industrial areas.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience working on industrial, energy, or chemicals transition in India.
  • Direct exposure to the fertilizer, ammonia, or chemicals value chain, including regulatory and market dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of how Indian industrial policy is shaped in practice.
  • Ability to balance technical depth with pragmatic execution.
  • Comfort working with senior industry leaders and government stakeholders.
  • Bias toward delivery over narrative.
