Job Description

Sedgman cherche un estimateur de projet ayant une expérience pratique dans la gestion des activités d’estimation dans le cadre d’études et de projets d’ingénierie complexes. Le lieu de travail peut être l’un de nos bureaux de Montréal, Vancouver ou Phoenix.

Le responsable de l’estimation des coûts de projet est chargé de diriger la préparation d’estimations de coûts précises pour des projets d’ingénierie dans le secteur minier et du traitement des minerais. Il supervise la collaboration entre les parties prenantes, l’évaluation des risques, ainsi que la maintenance et l’amélioration continue des systèmes, des données et des processus d’estimation afin de garantir la réussite de la réalisation des projets.

Responsabilités Principales :

  • Préparer des devis précis pour les études et les projets, en veillant au respect des objectifs en matière de délais, de coûts et de qualité.

  • Diriger et collaborer avec les ingénieurs et les parties prenantes pour élaborer des devis et des analyses de risques.

  • Gérer et améliorer les systèmes d’estimation, les bases de données, les modèles et les registres de coûts, y compris les métrés de conception finale.

  • Suivre, rendre compte et gérer les activités d’estimation.

  • Mettre en place, maintenir et améliorer en permanence les bases de données d’estimation, les barèmes de prix, les modèles et les tableurs.

  • Contribuer à l’amélioration continue des processus et des outils d’estimation et de gestion des risques.

Que recherchons-nous chez notre futur membre de l'équipe? Qualifications requises :

  • Plus de 10 ans d’expérience en estimation dans des environnements d’ingénierie ou de construction au sein du secteur minier

  • Expérience dans l’élaboration d’estimations selon les classes AACE 1 à 5

  • Maîtrise du logiciel @Risk ou d’un logiciel similaire de gestion des risques

  • Excellentes compétences en communication orale et écrite, notamment en relecture et en contrôle qualité des documents

  • Solides compétences organisationnelles et capacité à coordonner simultanément les estimations pour plusieurs études ou projets

  • Capacité à collaborer efficacement avec les clients, les parties prenantes et les équipes interfonctionnelles lors de l’élaboration des estimations de coûts

  • Expérience des systèmes d’estimation, des bases de données et des initiatives d’amélioration continue

  • Exigences linguistiques : excellent niveau de français à l’oral et à l’écrit. Une bonne maîtrise de l’anglais à l’oral est requise en raison des contacts quotidiens avec les clients, les fournisseurs, les partenaires et les collègues basés hors du Québec.

Sedgman is currently recruiting for a Project Estimator, with hands-on experience driving estimating activities across complex engineering studies and projects. This person can be based out of our Montreal, Vancouver or Phoenix office.

The Project Estimator role is responsible for leading the preparation of accurate cost estimates for engineering projects within the mining and mineral processing industry. The role oversees stakeholder collaboration, risk assessment, and the maintenance and continuous improvement of estimating systems, data, and processes to support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, for studies/projects, ensuring alignment with time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Lead and collaborate with engineers, and stakeholders to develop estimates and risk assessments.
  • Maintain and improve estimating systems, databases, templates, and cost records, including final design take-offs.
  • Track, report, and manage estimating activities.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve estimating databases, price books, templates, and spreadsheets.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating, risk management processes and tools.

What are we looking for? Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience estimating within engineering or construction environments in the mining industry
  • Experience in developing estimates from AACE Class 1 to Class 5.
  • Experience with @Risk or similar risk management software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including high-level proofreading and document quality control
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate estimates for multiple studies/projects simultaneously
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders and cross-functional teams when developing cost estimates
  • Experience with estimating systems, databases, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Language requirements: excellent spoken and written French. Strong spoken English skills are required due to daily contact with clients, suppliers, partners, and colleagues based outside Quebec.
