3 years Estimates experience
3-5 years operational experience in freight forwarding (air/road, sea cargo) with MINING experience
Create and send accurate estimates as requested by clients and agents, sourcing relevant rates.
Ensure that all quotes are registered on the quotation module and that outcomes are updated weekly (accepted, in progress, lost, sent, and follow-up).
Hand over all new business to operations, including:
Completed estimate
Rate sheet/work sheet
Original customer enquiry
All other relevant documentation
Ensure all buying and selling rates are logged. Provide written instructions on which subcontractors/ The Company office the rate offer is based on.
For long-term projects, set up a meeting between the Project Estimator, Commercial Manager, and Operations. If the scope of work is once-off, this can be done via email.
Compile rate offers for project tenders using a Tender Rate template or customer-supplied template. Assign a The Company quotation reference number and upload it into the system.
Send estimate requests from new clients (not registered on The Company system) to the Commercial team as leads.
Ensure that existing client contact details are accurate and up to date in the Quotation module.
Assist other sections, when required, in identifying suitable hauliers for specific quotes.
Maintain records of rates to ensure competitive mark-ups and negotiate best rates with:
Airlines
Shipping lines
Road transporters
Other relevant service providers
Perform any other delegated tasks deemed reasonable by the reporting manager.
