Job Description

Primary responsibilities:
• Conducts detailed analysis of contract documents to determine and validate overall project requirements.
• Recognizes risks related to project-specific requirements, site, schedule, and market conditions.
• Solicits competitive pricing from subcontractor partners and suppliers for pursuits.
• Completes detailed quantity, material, and labor takeoffs from project documents.
• Ability to evaluate and compare multiple suppliers and subcontract partners for completeness of scope, schedule, and compliance with the project documents.
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with subcontractor partners and suppliers.
• Ability to converse with and solicit trades and comfortable with cold calling.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and project walk-throughs.
• Supports bid runner with bid-day assignments.
• Ability to perform multiple estimates concurrently under critical deadlines.
• Actively participate in estimate reviews with Executives, Operations Staff, Owners, and Engineers.
• Assists with bid document control and documenting, organizing, and archiving all information relating to the estimate for successful transfer to the project team.
Technical skills:
• Be able to read project documents including plans and specifications.
• Proficient in mathematics, statistics, and data analysis.
• Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional time management skills.
• Working knowledge of estimating software.
• Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Familiar with Bluebeam or other PDF software.
• Familiar with different delivery methods: Design-Bid-Build (Hard Bid), Design-Build (DB), Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR).
• A strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
Qualifications:
• Formal Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree is preferred.
• Work Experience: Three (3) to eight (8) years of commercial construction-related experience.
