The Project Engineering Manager will be a technical leader and primary engineering interface for one or more Department of Defense programs, such as the Hydra 70 Rockets and Components and advanced Proximity Fuze systems. This role is responsible for leading cross-functional engineering teams through all phases of the product lifecycle—from requirements analysis and design through integration, verification, and delivery—while ensuring technical performance, schedule adherence, and budget compliance. The Project Engineering Manager will drive alignment between engineering execution and program objectives, ensure compliance with DoD and company standards, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Technical & Project Leadership:
oLead multi-disciplinary engineering teams supporting DoD programs, ensuring delivery of solutions that meet technical, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
oServe as the technical point of contact for government customers, prime contractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of engineering status, risks, and issues.
oContribute to Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) for engineering deliverables, aligned with program milestones and Technology Readiness Level (TRL) goals.
oOversee requirements decomposition, interface definition, and verification planning in accordance with MIL-STD and contract requirements.
Project & Team Management:
oLead cross-functional teams (Integrated Product Team-style) focusing on Systems Engineering, System Safety, Configuration Management, disciplines.
oDetermine and communicate clear priorities across a diverse team, and report on key performance metrics to senior leadership.
oLead on-time completion of project deliverables in support of development and certification of advanced weapon systems.
oManage hardware and software projects from CONOPS and joint development to certification and entry into service, ensuring smooth team communication and operation across the full project development lifecycle.
oInterface effectively with Regulatory Authorities (e.g., government certification bodies) and manage supplier relationships.
Team Leadership & Development:
oLead, mentor, and develop junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
oProvide guidance and support in all aspects of program execution, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management across vertically integrated teams and teaming partners.
