Job Description Summary:

If you want your engineering leadership to shape how power moves across countries and grids, this role gives you the chance to lead some of the most complex transmission projects in the energy industry. As a Project Engineering Director at GE Vernova, you will guide the technical delivery of large-scale HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) projects, working across teams, partners, and customers to help deliver more reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy systems.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the full technical execution of large, complex customer projects, serving as the main technical point of contact between the customer and GE Vernova project teams.
  • Direct engineering coordination across project work packages, ensuring designs meet customer requirements, project budgets, quality expectations, and delivery timelines.
  • Oversee engineering activities for major grid projects, with a strong focus on HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) and FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems) solutions.
  • Run technical reviews, guide decision-making, and align cross-functional teams across plant configuration, civil works, control and protection hardware, and electrical design.
  • Identify technical risks and opportunities early, drive mitigation plans, and support strong project execution from start to finish.
  • Manage technical interfaces with subcontractors and ensure their deliverables are integrated effectively into the overall engineering plan.
  • Ensure accurate document control, configuration management, and compliance with EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead ROE (Return on Experience) and lessons-learned activities to improve future project delivery and engineering performance.

Qualifications

Required

  • Significant engineering experience in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) environment within power generation, transmission, or distribution.
  • Strong HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) experience, including technical leadership in large-scale transmission or grid infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, multidisciplinary engineering project teams and coordinate across internal functions, customers, and external partners.
  • Strong technical knowledge across key engineering disciplines such as plant configuration, civil works, control and protection hardware, and electrical design.
  • Clear communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics to both customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions and resolve issues in demanding project environments.
  • Comfortable working across cultures and willing to travel globally for short- to medium-term project needs.
  • A collaborative engineering leader who brings technical depth, clear direction, and the ability to help teams deliver complex projects together.
  • A formal education and subsequent Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering is nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.

Preferred

  • Experience leading engineering delivery for international grid, transmission, or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with customer-facing technical leadership in highly regulated, contract-driven project environments.
  • Experience using lessons learned and continuous improvement practices to strengthen future project execution.

Why This Role

In this role, your work connects engineering excellence with real-world energy impact. You will help deliver advanced grid solutions that support electrification, grid stability, and decarbonization at scale. You will also work at the center of technical decision-making on projects that are both strategically important and technically demanding.

What We Offer

  • High-impact work on large-scale, innovative energy projects
  • Opportunities to grow your career through on-the-job learning and development
  • International exposure through collaboration with global teams, customers, and partners
  • A supportive and collaborative environment where engineering expertise and teamwork both matter
