Job Purpose
Project Engineer – Rail Systems assists the Project Manager in the management and delivery of project engineering activities.

The role will work closely with the Design/Project Manager to meet the operational commitments in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, including environmental sustainability, WHS activities, systems assurance, risk management, competency, requirement management, procurement, installation, test and commissioning, and site supervision.

The role ensures technical compliance, safety, quality, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved while managing stakeholder, supplier, and subcontractor interfaces to successfully deliver rail infrastructure projects.


Key Responsibilities
Planning, facilitation, and delivery of engineering activities, exercising professional judgment and technical expertise to achieve project objectives with minimal supervision.
Consult and recommendations for specialist engineering areas.
Supervise and co-ordinate multi-disciplined design activities.
Control and manage technical interfaces between disciplines, with equipment suppliers and subcontractors.
Assist in the preparation of forecast and constructability of projects.
Supervise commissioning activities with the site commissioning teams.
Develop ITP and work packs for TCS work packages.
Assist the Project Manager with compliance with the documentation required under the UGL Management System.
Assist the Project manager with schedule, cost reporting, contract administration and effectively inform the Contract Manager and Project Manager of contract position and recommendations for recovery and improvement.
Review and plan the project with the Project Manager to ensure technical aspects of the job are clear and to become familiar with contractual arrangements made with the client.
Act as the primary technical interface between the Design Manager and associated subcontractors/suppliers for design-related queries and technical submissions.
Support the Design Manager by coordinating technical reviews, resolving design interfaces, and providing engineering guidance to subcontractors/suppliers to ensure compliance with project requirements.


Qualifications
Tertiary Qualifications in relevant field for the position, preferably degree level.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience working on rail systems projects (design, construction, test & commissioning) or similar
Experience in the delivery of rail systems projects, including experience with procedures (possession/occupation management, hour by hour planning.
Experience in signalling and train control systems preferable
