Job Description

The group you’ll be a part of

WETS Deposition group at Lam India Global Hardware Technology (LIGHT) is hiring a Project Engineer, Program Lead for its product development engineering team.

The impact you’ll make

As a Project Engineer, Program Lead in the WETS Product Group within Lam India, you will lead complex mechanical product-definition and drafting programs across global, cross-functional teams. This is an individual-contributor role with no direct people-reporting responsibility; however, the role requires strong program leadership, stakeholder influence, operational governance, and ownership of measurable outcomes. You will be accountable for delivering high-quality CAD, Engineering and Systems documentation while meeting cost, quality, and schedule commitments. The role will also establish, govern, and continuously improve team-level KPIs to drive execution discipline, productivity, documentation accuracy, and scalable delivery excellence. You will partner with engineering teams, Contract workforce, and product-group stakeholders to manage risks, resolve dependencies, improve processes, and drive initiatives in standardization, automation, cost optimization, and quality improvement.

What you’ll do

  • Lead mechanical product-definition and drafting programs across cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring clear ownership, execution discipline, and alignment to program priorities.
  • Own program-level delivery accountability for cost, quality, and schedule commitments, including proactive tracking of deliverables, risks, dependencies, and corrective actions.
  • Define, establish, track, and continuously improve team-level KPIs covering cost, quality, schedule, productivity, documentation accuracy, and execution effectiveness.
  • Manage operational activities for a large contract workforce of up to 20 engineers, including work allocation, progress tracking, KPI monitoring, issue resolution, and delivery governance without direct people-reporting responsibility.
  • Ensure CAD deliverables and engineering documentation meet required quality expectations, documentation standards, and program milestone requirements.
  • Ensure drawings are accurate, reference the correct inputs, and comply with global and Lam engineering standards and practices.
  • Maintain and improve process checkpoints to strengthen drafting quality, schedule adherence, cost discipline, and first-time-right delivery.
  • Coordinate work priorities, workflows, and deliverables with engineering contributors, functional leads, and stakeholders to ensure timely closure of program milestones.
  • Engage with India, US, and Austria-based Mechanical Engineering Managers and Product Group stakeholders to align priorities, resolve execution challenges, and deliver measurable program outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance, review support, and knowledge-sharing on drafting standards, quality principles, CAD practices, and documentation best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement, standardization, automation, and cost-optimization initiatives that improve engineering productivity, documentation quality, and delivery predictability.

Who we’re looking for

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on CAD experience is required, including creation and review of drawings for sheet metal parts, machined components, and assemblies using Creo / NX.
  • Strong knowledge of ANSI standards, GD&T, welding symbols, surface finish requirements, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and welding processes.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in capital equipment or a comparable industry such as medical equipment, automotive, or aerospace, preferably in design, drafting, or engineering documentation function.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple parallel programs with strong prioritization, risk management, decision-making, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor products, wafer fabrication equipment, or related capital equipment platforms.
  • Experience with cost reduction, alternate manufacturing processes, value analysis, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Experience with one-dimensional tolerance stack-up analysis, fit checks, interference checks, and clearance checks.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID drawings is an added advantage.
  • Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, and supplier-quality engineering teams.
