As an intern with the Electrification and Automation (EA) division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting power distribution systems that keep the world running today, while also being exposed to our Future Grids technologies that are shaping the power systems of tomorrow - all within a collaborative, impact-driven environment.
We are seeking qualified candidates to join our Project Engineer Internship beginning in May or June 2027. This position will be based at our Wendell, North Carolina office location.
You’ll make an impact by:
Supporting medium-voltage switchgear projects serving data center, industrial, and construction customers.
Reviewing electrical and mechanical designs, specifications, and project documentation to support project execution and quality requirements.
Supporting project handoff activities between engineering, drafting, and manufacturing teams.
Creating product configurations based on customer specifications and supporting engineering change activities.
Supporting project scheduling, project tracking, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field and approaching completion of the required educational credentials for this opportunity.
Fundamental understanding of electrical one-line drawings, low-voltage and medium-voltage fundamentals, electrical computer-aided design (CAD), power distribution switchgear, and low-voltage relay logic.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook.
Ability to work on-site full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the 12-week summer internship.
Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide relocation support.
Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
This internship is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.
Experience working with electrical drawings and power distribution equipment.
Experience using engineering, configuration, or project management software tools.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.

The hourly pay range for this position $25.00 - $25.50 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
