Job Description

The Project Engineer II is responsible for managing all aspects of project assignments using the Product Development Process (PDP) as a guide to achieve project objectives for New Product Development projects. Responsible for product maintenance, cost improvement, quality improvement and similar projects. Directs and coordinates a project team in the planning, organization, implementation, and completion of engineering project assignments.

This position will serve our US Air Division, located in Fort Smith, AR

  • Responsible for design and the full product-life cycle.

  • Reviews project plans, proposals, and objectives.

  • Creates, evaluates, and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.

  • Designs and conducts tests to determine project progress.

  • Acts as liaison with department contacts to gain input and effectively communicates project status.

  • Provides detailed test programs and guidance to assigned lab and design personnel in the conductance and documentation of product specific test standards. Evaluates data and makes recommendations.

  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

  • Complies with state and federal regulations and ensures a clean and safe environment.

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of latest manufacturing technologies, techniques, and practices.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace or related Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in product development related to specific product-type equipment or related industry
  • Demonstrated proficiency in application of thermo-fluid modeling, analysis, design and development of products and systems.
  • Must be hands on and have experience in working in a product testing lab preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in working in product development teams and leading other engineers and lab technicians.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with data analysis including statistical and uncertainty analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability in designing experiments, interpreting experimental data, conducting analysis, drawing conclusions and preparing summary reports.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in all business-related software packages (e.g. MS Office), as well as experience with specific applications and programs related to design engineering (i.e., Creo, Solidworks, Pro/E, etc). Familiarity and/or experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software such as ANSYS-Fluent.
  • Proficiency in project management, materials, manufacturing processes and business processes.
  • Working knowledge of new product and technology development processes.

HOW TO STAND OUT:

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Experience in hands-on product design/testing/service of HVAC, refrigeration and/or electric or gas products such as appliances
