Job Description

The Project Engineer supports the Senior Electrical Engineer in coordinating, organizing, and executing project‑specific engineering tasks for autonomous surface vessel programs. This role provides day‑to‑day assistance with planning, scheduling, documentation, system integration, and communication across internal and external stakeholders.

The position is designed for an early‑career engineer with a degree in electrical engineering or another engineering discipline who is eager to develop systems‑level thinking while gaining hands‑on experience with electrical, control, and communication systems. The engineer will help ensure that engineering activities align with project requirements, regulatory standards, and program objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day‑to‑day tasking, planning, and coordination across a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Participate in project meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and program management; document action items and follow‑ups.
  • Attend weekly design and status meetings; assist in resolving pending issues.
  • Help track engineering design progress, schedules, risks, and resource needs.
  • Support integration of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, control systems, sensors, communications, and onboard electronics.
  • Assist in reviewing engineering products to identify risks, inconsistencies, or integration issues.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting and testing support under senior guidance.
  • Contribute to system verification and validation activities.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, interface definitions, and configuration records.
  • Coordinate communication within the engineering department and between engineering, production, logistics, and program management.

Desired Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles, especially related to power systems, electronics, or control systems.
  • Interest in maritime systems, autonomous platforms, or complex integrated systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to stay organized, manage multiple tasks, and follow direction from senior engineers.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic CAD or modeling tools (AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Exposure to ABS, IEEE, USCG, or other maritime standards is beneficial but not required.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 0-5 years of relevant engineering experience (internships, co‑ops, or academic projects welcome).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with system integration, maritime systems, machinery controls, or defense programs.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation, configuration management, or project coordination.
  • Exposure to commercial or military vessel programs is a plus.
