ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project.

The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project will build new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity.

The project consists of 90km of 500kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330kV transmission lines for generator connections, stretching from Elong Elong in the west through to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie.

The Central-West Orana project is currently seeking dedicated Project Engineer – Civil to share their expertise within our growing Energy Hubs and Substations Teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to develop relationships with project personnel and external stakeholders to achieve and maintain a collaborative working environment

  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and record management skills

  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills to ensure all work is completed in the required timeframe

  • Attend and contribute to pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, team meetings and construction-related meetings as required

  • Conduct site walks with peers and supervision to monitor progression of works

  • Ensure all downtime and non-conformances are reported and rectified in a timely manner as per the Project’s quality procedures

  • Regularly monitor and accurately track the progress and financial performance of the works being completed vs. the budget and targets. Review performance and rectify any foreseeable issues

  • Ensure that all commercial deliverables are met in a timely manner to meet end of month financial reporting requirements, i.e. Progress Claims, variations and assessment of subcontractor claims, etc.

  • Contribute to the overall site 3 week lookahead and construction program for risk and opportunity

  • Implement risk controls and actions that will improve the safety, financial and engineering performance for the site. Formally communicate risks and their controls with all relevant personnel prior to works being conducted

  • Ensure effective 2-way interface with the construction team (engineering team, supervision, workforce, etc.) is maintained to ensure effective communication of critical tasks, upcoming works, maintenance schedules and required machinery

  • Analyse all equipment requirements and prepare a plant schedule in line with the program.

  • Provide assistance to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of all equipment required

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering

  • Tier 1 Contractor experience on large scale projects including foundations, piling, bulk earthworks,

  • Preferable experience constructing outdoor air insulated substations and substations at 220kV or above

  • Experience working on a mega-construction Projects

  • Problem solving / analytical skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent attitude and awareness towards safety in the workplace

  • Highly developed Microsoft Office Suite skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of all applicable Project policies and procedures

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contractual requirements and legislation relevant to the scope

Project Engineer positions are bus in, bus out, camp style accommodation provided for 14 days onsite and 7 days off site, on a roster-based arrangement out of the Central West Orana Region​.
