
HumeLink West Project
Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
The Opportunity
The Project Engineer – Assembly and Erection is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the construction of transmission towers, ensuring that the assembly, erection, and installation processes are completed safely, efficiently, and according to design specifications.
Please note this role is a site delivery role requiring DIDO/FIFO or relocation where additional allowances will apply.
Key Accountabilities
·Develop and manage timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for tower construction.
·Review engineering designs and ensure construction aligns with specifications and standards.
·Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and construction teams to ensure efficient execution.
·Enforce safety protocols and ensure quality control throughout the project.
·Resolve onsite issues and provide progress updates to stakeholders.

About You
• A degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering or related field, recognised in Australia.
• Proven experience in tower assembly, erection, or similar infrastructure projects, preferably in the transmission and utilities sector
• Familiarity with Australian standards and regulations, including safety and environmental compliance (e.g WHS, AS/NZS standards).
• Ability to manage schedules, budgets, and resources effectively, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Valid white card and other relevant certifications, such as working at heights or rigging.
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
