Corning Incorporated is seeking a Facilities Project Engineer - Civil based in Charlotte, NC or Corning, NY to support facility construction projects for manufacturing operations across multiple locations. This role requires approximately 50% travel on average, with travel demands increasing or decreasing based on project needs. Relocation assistance is available for this position. The role is typically aligned to Monday-Friday business hours, with flexibility to support project schedules, including occasional extended hours or weekends as needed.

This position supports the design, construction, and startup of new and existing manufacturing facility projects, with a focus on civil, structural, environmental, and architectural systems This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys leading technical workstreams, coordinating internal and external partners, and helping deliver complex capital projects safely, on time, and within scope and budget You will play a key role in moving projects from planning through execution and handoff to manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead civil-related facility project workstreams through design, construction, commissioning, and turnover to manufacturing operations
  • Coordinate internal teams, consultants, contractors, and construction partners to meet project scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality goals
  • Develop statements of work and support RFP processes for consultants, contractors, and construction partners
  • Partner with project managers, customers, and stakeholders to define project requirements, acceptance criteria, and execution plans
  • Support project planning by providing input on cost, schedule, resource needs, and scenario evaluation
  • Drive key project decisions related to scope, design, schedule, spending, and vendor selection
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, Corning facility standards, and project deliverables

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of engineering experience in facility, construction, or project-based environments
  • Working knowledge of facility construction processes and fundamental engineering principles
  • Experience with project management fundamentals, including scope development, budgeting, schedule management, change control, and execution planning
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, build relationships, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities in a changing environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across internal stakeholders and external engineering and construction partners
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project, and AutoCAD

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration
  • PMP certification
  • Experience with facility and facility equipment design and construction processes
  • Familiarity with procurement, bidder qualification, RFQ processes, contract terms and conditions, project safety, and OSHA requirements
  • Exposure to project delivery tools or methods such as PDRI, Stage Gate, or Last Planner

The range for this position is $81,750.00 - $112,406.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
