Full-time | Engineering | Location – Olathe, KS, 66022
Project Engineer performs detailed design work and analysis, leading to a complete product definition package (detailed part, assembly drawings and BOM’s). Duties will also include some reverse engineering of existing components and or products.
You’ll deliver short and long term projects that support the business strategy. This will involve:
Reverse Engineering: Determining the exact dimensions and hardness of sample OEM parts using calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, and Rockwell testers to recreate them as accurate CAD drawings.
Detailed Analysis & Design: Performing physical, chemical, and structural analysis on new or redesigned assemblies to make formal engineering and design recommendations.
CAD Modeling & Drafting: Creating complex, detail-level CAD models and drawings from sketches, equations, or imported data; ensuring all drawings follow ANSI standards and signing the "Checked By" box after review.
Prototyping & Validation: Arranging the creation of prototype parts and tooling; building or coordinating prototype assemblies, and performing design validation and testing.
Item & Materials Management: Creating accurate Parts Lists and furnishing Purchasing with prototype and fully released Bills of Material (BOM) for assigned commodities.
Quality Management & Troubleshooting: Performing prototype assembly tasks and investigating manufacturing or Quality Assurance (QA) problems; rendering expert technical opinions to management as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with Sales to coordinate special orders and answer technical parts questions; developing strong working relationships with QA, Procurement, and all phases of Warehouse Operations.
Supplier & Customer Relations: Interacting with personnel across all departments, visiting customers or suppliers at their facilities, and representing the company at industry trade shows.
Reporting & Compliance: Preparing monthly progress reports on active engineering projects and strictly following company operational and accounting policies.
HOW TO SUCCEED / YOUR PROFILE

Must possess a Technical Degree (eg: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering)
Mechanical knowledge (Preferred)
Must demonstrate proficiency using CAD or evidence of certified training completion
Must demonstrate advanced proficient knowledge of metals, alloys, and plastics as well as machining, welding, casting, and molding processes.
Must possess machinist experience / training, or experience in the use of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators)
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and deliver quality work within specified timelines
Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Demonstrates proficiency using Google Suite (Mail, Docs, Hangout, Sheets, Drive)
Demonstrates a passion for new technologies and ability to effectively adapt to change
Demonstrates effective organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
Demonstrates a proven track record in effectively driving tasks and priorities for overlapping projects and meeting deadlines in a consistent, complete, accurate and timely manner
Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Must be team oriented, possess a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with others to achieve goals in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
