Salary up to£46,000 depending on experience.

We’re looking for a project specialist in Electrical and Automation Engineering, to be based at York Distribution Centre.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a broad range of technical skills. We never stand still in a continually evolving and competitive market, so you’ll need a continuous improvement mind-set and a willingness to support us in delivering our ambition to be Fit for the Future.

We have recently received significant investment from the business and have new cranes, new automated de-stackers and have a whole renovation programme well under way for 2026 to support our plans for the department.

Logistics at Nestlé is all about ensuring the consumer receives a perfect quality product, at the right time and place through asset reliability and using data to drive performance.

Your impact

• Ensure that the objectives of the investment project charter, design specifications and Nestlé standards are implemented and adhered to.
• Work with stakeholders to develop user requirement specifications, cost estimates, schedules of new infrastructure, facilities and equipment.
• Execute the project from basic design, through installation to successful commissioning, qualification and verification, and deliver a vertical startup.
• Monitoring progress and performance against the project plan; taking action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
• Ensure all the elements of the project (including technical people training, as needed) is performed in such a way that safety is always guaranteed on the whole project site and that a vertical start-up is assured.
• Liaise with Operations and other on-site resources for project work and with R&D, Marketing, and Logistics regarding scope, time plan and budget.
• Identifying, developing, and gathering the resources necessary to complete the project. Including 3rd parties.
• Ensure by design the workers, and operators, safety during both the construction and the ongoing operation of the plant.
• Support the smooth transition to operations after the qualification and verification of the installation.

Your ingredients for success

To be successful in this key role we expect you to ideally have experience working in a FMCG food or similar industrial automation environment and have strong service orientation amongst internal stakeholders with lots of proactive initiative and attention to detail.

Other key attributes we are looking for are:

• Ideally educated in Electrical Degree, HNC or ONC level and/or completion of a recognised apprenticeship.
• Preference for City & Guilds 2391 and 18th edition qualification or demonstrable experience.
• Experience managing capital expenditure projects (preferably PMP)
• Participation in the development of engineering projects as part of a multidisciplinary team (including different products and technologies in Electrical and Automation areas, desirable but not essential)
• Participation in the start-up of technical equipment(s) and/or production line(s)
• Exposure to TPM, preventive maintenance planning and/or maintenance execution desired but not required.
• Good technical knowledge of process control (SCADA and PLC systems) and sound understanding of electrical design and installation
• Good technical knowledge and practical experience of working within Health & Safety legislation (PUWER and machinery safety knowledge).
• Financial management skills: reviewing, controlling and forecasting, purchasing and price negotiation
