Project Engineer (Manufacturing/ Construction)
Location: Huntsville, AL

We are seeking a Project Engineer to lead and execute plant capital projects within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering projects that improve operational performance, reduce costs, and enhance safety and quality. The position works closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to drive successful project execution from concept through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage plant capital projects, including scope, budget, schedule, and execution
- Design and oversee modifications and expansions to existing equipment and facilities
- Coordinate on-site construction activities and manage contractors and external vendors
- Develop project scopes, evaluate bids, and support equipment procurement
- Monitor project performance across cost, schedule, quality, and safety metrics
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to troubleshoot and improve processes
- Prepare project estimates, ROI analyses, and reports for leadership review
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing methods, layouts, and equipment
- Maintain project documentation and ensure proper turnover at project completion
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) required (ABET accredited)
- 3+ years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience managing capital projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and contractor coordination
- Strong understanding of plant operations, equipment, and process improvement
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards within industrial environments
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a team-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in chemical or process manufacturing environments
- Exposure to codes and standards such as ASME, API, NFPA, or NEC
- Experience supporting PSM-related engineering documentation
