Job Description

This is an exciting, multi-disciplinary role for a person with the right mix of experience, talent and professionalism.

The selected role holder will join Stantec's Internal Engineering Consultancy Team in Istanbul, specifically involved in the Sustainable Energy (Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy), Climate Change (Mitigation and Adaptation) and Circular Economy consultancy projects. The role holder will be both encouraged and relied upon to be a pro-active contributor of ideas and best practice suggestions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Conduct technical due diligence and eligibility checks for projects in:
i) Sustainable Energy (Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy)
ii) Resource Efficiency (Water, Materials, Waste Management)
iii) Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation
iv) Circular Economy initiatives in buildings, industrial facilities (SMEs and corporates), and the public sector
Assess project investment plans, including risks and mitigation strategies for sustainable energy and resource efficiency projects
Develop financing structures for commercially viable sustainable energy projects
Calculate carbon and energy intensity, carbon footprint, energy savings, and greenhouse gas emission reductions
Prepare assessment, verification, and consultancy reports for International Financial Institutions (IFIs), ministries, and other public institutions
Design and deliver capacity-building materials (trainings, seminars, workshops) and conduct related activities for financial institutions, NGOs, and public/private stakeholders
Develop case studies, calculation tools, checklists, questionnaires, and templates to support project origination and evaluation
Perform on-site Energy and Resource Efficiency Audits in buildings and industrial facilities; prepare audit reports assessing both technical and financial feasibility of identified measures
Research and apply EU Best Available Techniques (BAT/BREF) to benchmark Energy and Resource Efficiency improvements
Research and analyze potential applications of Energy Efficiency, Resource Efficiency, and Renewable Energy measures in Türkiyes private and public sectors
Maintain in-depth knowledge of Turkish regulations and EU best practices for:
i) Building construction (energy performance, design, health and safety)
ii) Equipment used in buildings (white goods, solar water heaters, PV systems, heating/cooling technologies).

Qualifications:

  • A relevant University degree in engineering, preferably mechanical, electric or energy engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years practical engineering experience in the field of Sustainable Energy, Climate Change, or Circular Economy
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral
  • Consultancy experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience in Sustainable Energy, Climate Change, or Circular Economy is strongly preferred
  • Experience in Energy/Resource Efficiency Audits in industry sector is strongly preferred
  • Experience in Renewable Energy is a plus
  • A Masters degree in Sustainable Energy, Climate Change, or Circular Economy is a plus
  • Passionate about global engineering, particularly the fields of Sustainable Energy, Climate Change, or Circular Economy
  • Responsibility, punctual delivery and taking ownership of the tasks and assignments
  • Focused on quality delivery
  • A team player with good communication skills to liaise and interact with colleagues and Clients from other disciplines
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
