Project Engineer

Lead end-to-end engineering projects within a well-established manufacturing environment

Bellville, Cape Town | Manufacturing | R60 000 – R70 000 per month (Based on Experience)

The Role: Project Engineer

The Project Engineer is responsible for managing engineering projects from planning and design through to commissioning and final handover to production. The role ensures projects are delivered within scope, within budget, and in line with operational and OHS requirements. You will coordinate technical design, procurement, contractors, and reporting while maintaining full control of documentation and financial close-out.

Key Responsibilities

• Minimum 3–5 years experience managing engineering projects within a manufacturing or plant environment

• Plan, manage, and deliver engineering projects within defined scope and deadlines

• Drive project research and design coordination while ensuring OHS compliance

• Manage project commissioning, testing, training, and full handover to production

• Compile and hand over complete project documentation including manuals, work instructions, and maintenance requirements

• Control procurement of parts, tools, and materials while monitoring cost competitiveness

• Source, appoint, and manage contractors and sub-contractors, including agreements and invoice approvals

• Complete and manage engineering documentation including NPR, ECP, and PCR

• Create and manage jobs on SYSPRO

• Provide weekly and monthly reporting using MS Projects, expenditure tracking, and A3 planning

• Manage snag lists and close out projects for finance capitalisation

About You

• 3–5 years experience in project engineering within a manufacturing or plant environment

• Engineering background with strong project management capability

• Confident working with SYSPRO and MS Projects

• Strong understanding of engineering documentation processes (NPR, ECP, PCR)

• Solid knowledge of OHS compliance within project environments

• Strong communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills

• Structured, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple project workstreams simultaneously
