Compensation
At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $96,514 - $127,886.88. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.
Join Our Team as a Project Engineer!
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare calculations associated with HVAC systems, pumps, fans, compressors, duct/pipe distribution, fluid systems.
• Perform field survey work necessary to validate layouts/plans prior to, during, and after construction.
• Perform field survey work necessary to accurately transcribe existing building plans into CAD based drawings.
• Prepare drawings and engineering/construction documents.
• Prepare mechanical system drawings, P&IDs, single lines/schematics, mechanical physicals (arrangement, assembly, detail, fabrication), specifications, functional descriptions, sequence of operations.
• Prepare cost estimates, schedules, specifications, review/comment/approve drawings and submittals, installation supervision.
• Assist fellow team members within the Facilities department with design, troubleshooting, and mechanical expertise

• Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with others
• Drive a car or other vehicle
• Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules
• Coordinate work of contractors
What you’ll Need To Succeed:
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
Discipline/Specialty Preferred
• P.E. license or FE
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
• Expertise/familiarity with HVAC systems, refrigeration, compressors, VFDs, cooling water/cooling towers, chillers, PLCs, building automation, fan/pump sizing, energy savings, equipment electrical requirements, valves, instrumentation, and other mechanical infrastructure systems.
• Familiarity and experience with commissioning above systems, startup, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, OSHA, UL, IBC, and NEC/Chicago Electric Code, NEMA, mechanical industry codes and standards
• Ability to create project budgets/estimates.
• Experience with construction management, mechanical construction standards and practices, and coordination of trades.
• Drafting experience with AUTOCAD and MicroStation.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Technical competence in building systems.
• Ability to prioritize work and stay organized to meet project schedules and internal customer requests
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to review, interpret and effectively comment on drawings as required to accurately communicate desired construction to contractors.
