Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a major hyperscale data centre programme in the UK. This role represents a unique opportunity to lead a complex, mission-critical facility from enabling works through commissioning as part of an integrated client-side project management team.

The project is currently at enabling work stage, and relevant experience across the project life cycle is necessary.

The Project Director will serve as the senior delivery lead on site and act as the primary interface between the client, contractor partners and Turner & Townsend leadership teams.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary team and drive performance through design development, permitting and approvals, procurement and ultimately construction.

This role offers the opportunity to join one of the world's leading programme management organisations and play a key role in delivering strategic data centre infrastructure for a globally recognised client.

Key Attributes and Duties:  

The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record leading major capital programmes from development through construction and handover, combining strategic leadership with the ability to drive delivery excellence in a fast-paced project environment.

As the Project Director you will oversee, manage and lead a team providing the following services:

• Leading high-performing teams
• Managing multiple stakeholders
• Developing client relationships
• Driving performance culture
• Provide strategic leadership to an integrated project delivery team.
• Build and maintain senior client relationships.
• Lead contractor and consultant performance across the programme lifecycle.
• Drive a culture of safety, quality and delivery excellence.
• Mentor and develop project leadership teams.
• Commissioning management
• Integrated systems testing
• Operational readiness
• Client handover

Qualifications

• Previous data centre, mission-critical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, energy or similar technically complex construction project experience would be highly advantageous.
• You will have a track record of successful delivery on projects of a suitable scale and size in terms of project values -£100 million plus and 100 MW plus
• Demonstrable experience operating at Project Director, Programme Director or Construction Director level on major capital projects delivered through PMC, EPCM, Construction Management or General Contracting models.
• Proactive, meticulous, self-motivated and hands-on team player
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential, ability to communicate well with clients and senior management
• Ability to be on site 5 days a week
