The Project Director will lead the delivery of the Rail Systems scope for the Viet Nam High Speed Rail project. Based in Hanoi, this senior leadership role has overall responsibility for project performance, including delivery, budget, quality, customer satisfaction, stakeholder management, and the leadership of a large international project organisation.

You will:

  • Lead the overall delivery of the Rail Systems scope, ensuring contractual requirements are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality
  • Provide leadership to a large, international project organisation operating across multiple global locations
  • Take overall responsibility for the technical solution, system architecture, and integration of all Rail Systems sub-systems
  • Build trusted relationships with the customer, consortium partners, suppliers, and other key stakeholders
  • Oversee contract, change, claim, risk, and opportunity management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure effective project governance, reporting, decision-making, and escalation of critical issues
  • Lead the planning and execution of site activities, testing, commissioning, acceptance, and final project handover
  • Support future opportunities, including follow-up and additional project orders

Your qualifications and skills to create a better tomorrow

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable discipline
  • At least 25 years of international project management experience, including a minimum of 10 years delivering railway projects
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex rail infrastructure projects internationally and leading large, multicultural project organisations
  • Strong knowledge of railway systems, project scheduling, requirements management, contract management, and claim management
  • Experience applying structured project management methodologies such as PM@Siemens, IPMA, PMI, or equivalent
  • Project Director certification or an equivalent qualification, such as IPMA Level A or PMI PgMP
  • Strong leadership, conflict-resolution, stakeholder-management, and communication capabilities
  • A structured, independent, and results-oriented working style, with a strong focus on customers and quality
  • Fluency in written and spoken English at negotiation level
