The Role

As a Project Director with Worley,you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc….

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for operational management and profit/loss of the Large projects under Midstream/Downstream Energy Business Unit, including managing multiple projects, multi-locations, alliances, workshare projects. Working with functions, project teams and customers to deliver high quality projects and ensure continuous improvement in project delivery. Leading the definition and the implementation of the growth strategy. Driving Worley culture, vision and values creating high performing work environment through motivation, engagement and empowering.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise:

  • Responsible to achieve profitability targets for the large projects under Midstream/downstream business units.
  • Developing, Maintaining and Delivering Strategies for large projects in EPC/EPCM phases.
  • Oversight, governance and leading large project/s from Pre-FEED through EPC/EPCM
  • Identification and Capture of strategic Plays during proposal stage
  • Governance and stewardship of project review
  • Responsible to develop, manage and delivery the projects aligned to business unit annual growth strategy and plan in line with Worley corporate strategic vision.
  • Primary champion and leader for the implementation of Worley Life and for the achievement of zero harm in the operations/projects.

Team Collaboration and Supervision:

  • Provide clear and focused leadership for the project team to create a vision for project success and a strategy to fit that vision.
  • Define roles and responsibilities, in particular the respective roles of the project management team.
  • Focus team on achievement of milestones and other key project objectives. Listen to the team, discuss the issues, resolve problems, and direct activities to remove roadblocks and achieve objectives.
  • Participate in staff performance evaluations.
  • Identify and implement training requirements

Project Execution and Quality Assurance:

  • Define the project quality requirements.
  • Ensure the right systems are in place and that these are applied on the project.
  • Development of a project schedule which allows work to be executed in a logical sequence.
  • Compliance with Worley policies and procedures.
  • Implement lessons learned system

Documentation and Communication:

  • Effective communications with the project team.
  • Documented communication requirements.
  • Accurate, timely & effective progress reporting to the Client and internally to Worley management.
  • Ongoing monitoring of the communication network between project staff, the client and third parties and introduction of changes where required.

Specifications and Bid Activities:

  • Ensure that clear objectives set for the design team.
  • Assess the design activities and ensure a 'fit for purpose' design of the plant
  • Monitor design activities, interdisciplinary data flow and communications.

Constructability, Operability, and Maintainability:

  • Ensure that clear objectives set for the procurement and subcontracts team.
  • Assess procurement process throughout the project to ensure goods meet specification, are delivered on time and are within budget.
  • Set clear objectives for the Construction team.
  • Monitor the Construction Management function to ensure safe delivery of the project within cost and schedule objectives.

About You

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:
Qualifications / Skill Set:

Expertise and Recognition:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification (Chartered Engineer preferable)
  • Proven track record of working as a in the capacity of Project Director for large scale project (TIC 50 Min US$ and above)

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 25+ years industry experience.
  • Ability to direct a project, with the direct supervision and coordination provided by the Project Manager(s).
  • Demonstrable commitment to HSE Management in a project environment
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • High level of customer focus
  • Previous experience as a project manager on projects in excess of US$50m total value.

Leadership and Project Management:

  • Develops strong client relationships to support business development, project execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Explicit accountability to fulfil commitment to drive and deliver GID, Digital and Commercial Model strategic initiatives.
  • Works cooperatively with other business units, operations, functions to delivery winning project execution strategies, providing maximum value to the client and return to the company.
  • Works with functions and Project Delivery organization to monitor projects performance and implement promptly corrective actions.
  • Develops strong customer relations, acts as sponsor and participates in customer stewardship meetings to support business development, project execution, and continuous improvement.

  • Work with project manager(s) to ensure that HSE requirements are documented and understood by all project participants
  • Compliance with HSE procedures
  • Maintain HSE focus for project duration
