The Concessions unit at NYC Parks creates and manages concession agreements for a wide variety of businesses that operate on parkland, including pushcart vendors, restaurants, snack bars, golf courses, indoor tennis facilities, ice skating rinks, horse riding facilities and more. The concessions that the Project Development Coordinator for Concessions will oversee will help increase the activation of our parks, enhancing the enjoyment of its visitors and securing a valuable revenue stream for the city.
Major Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, serve as the point person for a diverse portfolio of active concession projects across the city to help connect parkgoers to world-class facilities and services.
- Identify and execute innovative business opportunities to enhance the visitor experience at Parks.
- Manage the concession solicitation, evaluation and award processes, from research and development of new and creative ideas, to writing Requests for Proposals/Bids, to creating presentations for public proposer meetings, to leading ratings committees and selection processes, to negotiating and implementing license agreements with selected concessionaires.
- Coordinate with the Parks Legal Division, the City Law Department, and the Mayor’s Office of Contract Services on concession solicitations and awards.
- Collaborate with Parks divisions, sister City agencies, and nonprofit Parks partners to promote and expand our concessions.
- Foster strong working relationships with local businesses and assist Parks in expanding its network of potential partners.
- Perform on-site walkthroughs and site visits, attend Community Board meetings, and conduct public bid openings.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
