Job Description

Position Summary

The Project Designer IV develops design or technical solutions under the supervision of a licensed architect. The Project Designer IV works on a variety of projects from design through construction documents.

Essential Functions

• Perform specific architectural assignments based on pre-determined design concepts.
• Assist lead architect in design decisions for construction.
• Produce sketches, layouts, plans, and drawings from design information provided by project managers.
• Exercise judgment in regard to work details where appropriate.
• Perform field verification and observe architectural features of structures in the field.
• Perform specific and limited portions of assignments using prescribed methods.
• Assist with preparation and participate in presentations.
• Compile data and perform design computations.
• Conduct code research and analysis.
• Perform drafting assignments by applying standardized drawing techniques.
• Develop, modify, and/or review drawings according to established standards.
• Produce construction documents and compile complete drawing sets.
• Review and verify shop drawings for design intent and accuracy with construction documents.
• Collaborate with engineers, consultants, contractors, and/or clients.

Additional Responsibilities

• Support business development activities as necessary.
• Perform other duties as directed.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Technical school or community college graduate
• Seven (7) years combined experience as a project designer, drafter, CAD operator, or similar
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel software
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite software
• Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
• Firm grasp of building technology fundamentals
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to effectively and confidently prioritize and execute tasks with many competing priorities
• Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Exceptional organizational and follow-through skills
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Experience with Newforma Project Center and/or Newforma Project Analyzer
• Experience with Microsoft Project
• Experience with Bluebeam PDF Revu
• Experience with Autodesk Revit software
