Our Mine Water team is currently looking for a Project Design Manager to support an ongoing Drainage Control program for a leading tier 1 global Mining company. This role is a blend of providing technical expertise/guidance and project leadership to deliver this innovative project.

What You’ll Do:

You’ll lead the end-to-end delivery of Water Management Plans (WMPs) for a major long-running mining program. This role blends project leadership, technical oversight, and digital innovation. You’ll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage design workflows, and ensure each WMP is delivered accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and managing project scope, timelines, resources, and deliverables

  • Leading and coordinating technical teams across surface water, groundwater, geospatial, and reporting disciplines while ensuring technical data and outputs are integrated, consistent, and aligned across the WMP lifecycle.

  • Overseeing responses to technical queries and ensuring high quality design inputs in partnership with WSP’s Digital team

  • Reviewing and updating document templates, figures, and Basis of Design documentation

  • Identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies

  • Driving digital excellence, including automation, data management, and reporting improvements

  • Acting as the primary liaison between internal teams and the client, ensuring clear communication and proactive issue resolution

  • Supporting continuous improvement across workflows, communication, and delivery methods

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience managing complex, multidisciplinary design or environmental projects

  • Strong understanding of hydrology, hydrogeology, or related technical fields

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Proficiency in geospatial tools (QGIS experience highly regarded)

  • A proactive mindset, with the ability to anticipate challenges and drive solutions

  • An interest in digital innovation, automation, and data-driven workflows

  • You’re a dynamic, adaptable project leader who thrives in a fastmoving environment.

  • You bring strong organisational skills, technical understanding of surface and groundwater systems, and the confidence to coordinate diverse teams.

  • You’re comfortable balancing project management with technical oversight, and you communicate clearly and effectively with both technical specialists and client stakeholders.
