Job Description

The Opportunity

Save the Children, in partnership with Balaka District Council, is seeking a qualified, experienced, and motivated Project Coordinator to lead the implementation of the TiKuMA Education Project in Balaka District. The position will be based at the Balaka District Education Office and will report to the Director of Education, Youth and Sports

The Project Coordinator will provide strategic leadership and overall management of the project, ensuring quality implementation, effective coordination, timely delivery of project objectives, and compliance with donor and government requirements. The role will work closely with government departments, community structures, development partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen education outcomes for children in Balaka District.

The successful candidate will oversee project planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, capacity strengthening, donor coordination, and team leadership while ensuring that safeguarding principles are fully integrated into all project activities.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder may be required to work outside the normal role profile and adjust working hours accordingly.

To be successful, you will bring/have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a primary or secondary school teacher.
  • At least four (4) years' experience in education programming.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating development projects and managing partnerships.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and people management skills.
  • Good understanding of project planning, monitoring, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, and report writing skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to children's rights and safeguarding.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other computer packages.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within project locations as required.
