Job Description

Goldbelt Heritage Foundation (GHF) is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving and revitalizing the culture, language, and ways of knowing of the Tlingit people of Southeast Alaska. Through educational programming, language revitalization, arts, and community collaboration, GHF fosters Indigenous knowledge and strengthens cultural identity for current and future generations.

The Project Coordinator – Náakw Daat Yéi Jiné (Working Around Medicine) is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and evaluating a grant-funded program designed to introduce and prepare high school youth for careers in healthcare. This position will play a vital role in building partnerships with schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to ensure students gain valuable experiences and pathways into postsecondary training, certifications, and employment in healthcare fields. Located within the GHF Youth & Education department, the position works closely with the Youth & Education Program Manager to develop and implement this new program for the Juneau area.

This is a 100% grant-funded position, contingent on continued funding. The grant ends in July 2028.

Qualifications

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Alaska Native communities and diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and data tracking/reporting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, healthcare, public health, social sciences, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • At least 2 years of experience coordinating programs for youth or in healthcare/education fields.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in grant-funded program coordination.
  • Knowledge of healthcare career pathways, training programs, and certifications.
  • Familiarity with Southeast Alaska’s cultural and educational landscape.
  • Background in student advising, mentorship, or youth workforce development.

Pay is $28.20-38.46/hr DOE

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Program Coordination & Implementation

  • Plan, organize, and deliver program activities, workshops, and events focused on healthcare career exploration.
  • Develop schedules and coordinate curricula implementation and experiential learning opportunities (e.g., job shadowing, internships, mentorship).
  • Ensure programming aligns with grant goals, objectives, and reporting requirements.

Youth Engagement & Support

  • Recruit, mentor, and support high school students in the program.
  • Provide culturally responsive guidance that integrates Indigenous values and perspectives.
  • Track student participation, progress, and outcomes.

Partnership Development

  • Build and maintain partnerships with local schools, healthcare providers, tribal organizations, tribes, and higher education institutions.
  • Coordinate guest speakers, site visits, travel trips, and training opportunities in healthcare settings.

Grant & Compliance Management

  • Monitor program performance to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Collect and report program data for evaluation purposes.
  • Assist with writing reports, maintaining budgets, and supporting sustainability planning.

Community & Cultural Integration

  • Collaborate with Elders and cultural experts to ensure programming reflects and respects Tlingit traditions and values.
  • Incorporate culturally relevant practices into all aspects of program delivery.
