We are seeking a dedicated, highly organized, and results-oriented Project Coordinator to join our global Disaster Risk Management group, which specializes in disaster risk reduction, response, reconstruction, and urban resilience. With experience responding to over 100 global and U.S. disasters, our data-driven, multidisciplinary approach addresses economic, political, socio-cultural, sustainability, and technical challenges in some of the world's most demanding environments. We excel at developing strategies for post-conflict and disaster recovery, including creating resilient, affordable housing systems that empower communities to rebuild and thrive.

This position is to be based in our Los Angeles office. No relocation or sponsorship is provided.

Position Summary

The Project Coordinator will support the implementation and day-to-day coordination of global disaster preparedness, response, and recovery programs. Working under the direction of Miyamoto’s Senior Principals overseeing global disaster response and preparedness work, and closely with Project Managers, technical specialists, country teams, and operational staff, the Project Coordinator will help ensure that project activities, deliverables, budgets, documentation, and reporting requirements remain organized and on track.

This role suits an individual with strong organizational and communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced international environment. The position will support both ongoing programs and rapid disaster-response operations and may work across multiple countries and initiatives simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day coordination and implementation of disaster preparedness, emergency response, recovery, and resilience programs.
• Develop and maintain project workplans, trackers, calendars, action logs, deliverable schedules, and other project management tools.
• Track project activities, deadlines, deliverables, and follow-up actions and proactively identify items requiring attention.
• Coordinate across multidisciplinary global and in-country teams to facilitate communication, information sharing, and timely completion of project activities.
• Support preparation and coordination of donor deliverables, including progress reports, technical reports, workplans, monitoring information, and other required documentation.
• Support project budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, forecasting, consultant invoicing, procurement documentation, and coordination with finance and operations teams.
• Maintain organized and complete project files and records in accordance with Miyamoto and donor requirements.
• Support compliance with donor requirements and internal policies, including maintaining documentation required for procurement, contracting, travel, and other project activities.
• Coordinate meetings with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders; prepare agendas and meeting materials; document decisions and follow up on agreed actions.
• Support monitoring of project risks, issues, and implementation challenges and assist Project Managers in tracking corrective actions.
• Assist with mobilization and logistics for international and in-country technical teams during disaster-response deployments.
• Support information management and operational coordination during rapid-onset disaster responses.
• Contribute to lessons learned, process improvements, proposal development, and other program-development activities as needed.
• Perform other project coordination responsibilities necessary to support effective program implementation.

As needed, this role may involve international travel and participation in country-level disaster-response deployments.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, international relations, engineering, business, public administration, project management, or another relevant field. Master’s degree preferred but not required.

Experience

• Approximately 3–6 years of relevant professional experience supporting or coordinating projects, preferably in complex, international, or multi-stakeholder environments.
• Experience in humanitarian assistance, disaster risk management, international development, or other fast-paced and rapidly changing environments is an advantage but not required.

Knowledge:

• Familiarity with project implementation and coordination processes, including work planning, budgeting, reporting, and project administration.
• Experience with donor-funded programs, U.S. Government-funded programs, and 2 CFR / U.S. federal award requirements is an advantage but not required.

Skills

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working with budgets, spreadsheets, trackers, and project-management systems.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and related digital and AI-enabled tools for organization, analysis, and administration.

Languages: Professional fluency in English required. Spanish highly preferred. Additional languages are an advantage.

Remote Work and Travel Requirements:

Demonstrate ability to work effectively across remote, multidisciplinary, and multicultural teams and across different time zones. Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt quickly during emergency operations. Willingness to travel internationally and deploy to disaster-affected locations as needed.

The salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year. Salary offers are determined using a variety of factors, including but not limited to: years of experience, education, depth of knowledge, geographic location, and equity with internal staff.
