Job Description
Reports To: Project Director, Balance of Plant (BOP).
The Project Coordinator supports the execution and coordination of engineering activities within the project, ensuring that deliverables, interfaces, and technical information flow efficiently across disciplines and project functions.
The role contributes to the day-to-day coordination of project and engineering activities under the direction of the Project Manager and in close collaboration with the Engineering Manager, Procurement, Construction, and Project Controls teams. The Project Coordinator supports the end-to-end delivery of projects, with a primary focus on integrating engineering, procurement, and construction activities within established project governance frameworks.
Your role
Project Execution Support:
- Support the coordination and execution of all project phases, from initiation through closeout.
- Contribute to the achievement of project objectives related to:
- Safety.
- Quality.
- Schedule.
- Cost.
- Assist the Project Manager in monitoring and controlling overall project performance.
Planning, Integration, and Controls:
- Support the implementation of project management processes, including:
- Scope definition and control.
- Schedule monitoring and coordination with Project Controls.
- Cost tracking and forecasting support.
- Change management tracking and documentation.
- Assist in maintaining integrated project plans and identifying deviations from approved baselines.
- Support project reporting and performance monitoring activities.
Engineering Coordination:
- Coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines to ensure:
- Timely issuance of engineering deliverables.
- Alignment with project requirements and objectives.
- Monitor engineering progress and follow up on deliverable status.
- Facilitate the resolution of interdisciplinary interface issues.
- Support communication between engineering teams and project stakeholders.
Procurement and Contract Support:
- Support the preparation of technical inputs for procurement packages (RFI/RFP).
- Coordinate engineering deliverables required to support procurement activities.
- Track vendor documentation, fabrication progress, and delivery milestones.
- Assist with contract administration activities, including documentation management and follow-up actions.
Construction and Field Interface:
- Maintain effective coordination with construction and field execution teams.
- Support the resolution of technical queries and field issues.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are aligned with construction requirements, sequencing, and schedules.
- Facilitate communication between engineering and site personnel.
Meetings and Stakeholder Coordination:
- Organize and participate in meetings involving:
- Engineering teams.
- Procurement teams.
- Construction teams.
- External stakeholders, as required.
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, action logs, and follow-up items.
- Maintain effective communication across all project participants and stakeholders.
- Track and report progress on assigned actions.
Issue and Change Management Support:
- Identify, track, and support resolution of:
- Project issues.
- Interface conflicts.
- Potential project changes.
- Assist in evaluating and documenting:
- Scope changes.
- Schedule impacts.
- Cost implications.
- Escalate critical issues and concerns to the Project Manager as appropriate.
Risk Management Contribution:
- Identify potential risks associated with:
- Engineering deliverables.
- Project interfaces.
- Procurement activities.
- Construction execution.
- Support the Project Risk Manager with:
- Risk identification.
- Impact assessment.
- Mitigation planning.
- Risk tracking and reporting.
- Participate in project risk reviews and follow-up activities.
Business Case and Project Development Support:
- Contribute to:
- Project background documentation.
- Scope definition and validation.
- Business case development support.
- Funding approval packages.
- Assist in gathering, organizing, and validating technical and execution-related information.
- Support project development activities during early project phases.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including:
- Progress reports.
- Deliverables tracking logs.
- Action registers.
- Issue logs.
- Risk registers.
- Support weekly and monthly reporting requirements.
- Ensure project records are maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Project Management, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset.
- Typically 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in project delivery environments.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering, infrastructure, industrial, nuclear, energy, or EPC/EPCM projects.
- Demonstrated exposure to:
- Engineering coordination.
- Procurement processes.
- Construction and project execution activities.
