Your Opportunity

Stantec has an opportunity for a Field Engineer to join our established Program Management Team (PMT) located within the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSDGC) Program Management Office in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In this role, you will support the delivery of a regulatory-driven wastewater infrastructure program with a capital value exceeding $1.3 billion. The portfolio includes seven major capital projects, featuring significant wastewater treatment plant upgrades, conveyance system improvements, and a large-diameter stormwater tunnel designed to support the region's long-term wet weather management objectives. Projects are being delivered through both Design-Bid-Build (DBB) and Progressive Design-Build (PDB) methodologies within a highly collaborative and integrated program environment.

This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting one of the largest wastewater infrastructure programs in the Midwest while working alongside industry-leading professionals in planning, design, construction, and program management.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting construction site observations to verify compliance with contract documents, project specifications, regulatory requirements, and approved construction practices.
  • Documenting construction progress through detailed field reports, photographic records, and written observations of site activities.
  • Monitoring ongoing construction activities associated with wastewater treatment facilities, conveyance systems, tunneling projects, pump stations, and related infrastructure.
  • Reviewing construction drawings, technical specifications, project schedules, shop drawings, submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other construction administration documentation.
  • Identifying and documenting field issues, construction challenges, schedule impacts, and potential risks, and communicating findings to project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Participating in construction progress meetings and documenting discussions, key decisions, commitments, and action items.
  • Supporting validation and review of work products, technical recommendations, and project documentation prepared by project stakeholders, including Owners' Advisors, Engineers of Record, Construction Contractors, Design-Build Teams, and Program Management Team members.
  • Serving as a field liaison between project stakeholders to facilitate communication and support timely issue resolution.
  • Assisting with quality assurance and quality control activities related to construction and project documentation.
  • Reviewing and tracking record drawings, as-built documentation, testing records, and project closeout materials.
  • Supporting program reporting efforts through collection and organization of field data and construction progress information.
  • Assisting with engineering evaluations, constructability reviews, and technical analyses as required throughout project delivery.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of engineering and construction principles, construction practices, and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Interest in or exposure to wastewater treatment facilities, conveyance systems, tunneling, underground utilities, or heavy construction projects.
  • Familiarity with construction administration processes, including RFIs, submittals, schedules, change management, and project documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to independently manage field assignments and reporting responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience with construction management software, Bluebeam, GIS platforms, or document management systems is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Greater Cincinnati area.

Education and Experience

  • Engineering Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the planning, design, construction, inspection, or delivery of infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working within collaborative project teams and interacting with contractors, consultants, and clients.
  • Experience with wastewater, water, utility, tunneling, industrial, or major capital construction projects is preferred.
  • Relevant professional certifications are considered assets but are not required.
