About the Opportunity

The Project Controls Specialist (PCS) will provide support, guidance, and analysis to Project Management teams within the Planning, Real Estate & Facilities (PREF) Division.PREF is responsible for managing all projects in the Capital Program at Northeastern University.

The PCS’s primary responsibility is to serve as the system administrator for the Project Management Information System (PMIS) currently in use — Trimble Unity Construct (TUC), formerly known as e-Builder. In this capacity, the PCS will maintain system configurations, manage user access, and ensure the platform is being utilized effectively across the Capital Program.The PCS will provide training to both internal and external TUC users, evaluate existing project information-gathering processes, and develop additional processes where gaps are identified. The role also serves as a primary point of contact for cost, schedule, and workflow-related inquiries from all TUC users. Additionally, the PCS will conduct ongoing analysis of contracts and expenditures across all projects in the Capital Program, producing reporting and insights that support informed decision-making by Project Management leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering or Business Administration or related field or equivalent professional work experience required. Experience in Related Field: 5-7 years of experience in project scheduling, estimating, controls, budgeting and database management on capital projects preferred. Unique Expertise: Working knowledge of project scheduling software such as Primavera P6; cost control software such as Trimble Unity Construct (formerly e-Builder), PM Web, Primavera Expedition, Oracle Contract Manager; office automation software such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint); database report writers such as Info maker or Crystal and understanding of relational databases and SQL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Management & Financial Analysis Collect actual and projected costs, analyze the status of contracts and help users properly record project expenditures. Prepare reports on capital expenditures and funding utilization, including anticipated and actual cash flow curves and analyses to support financial planning and reporting.
  • Schedule & Planning Support Participate in project planning meetings to assist in developing Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules that identify critical activities, project interdependencies, and cash flow needs and analyses.
  • Program Management System (PMIS) Development & Administration Develop web-based program management capabilities and automated business processes within the system, including approval workflows. Develop and maintain user manuals for all program management systems. Ensure ongoing administration and configuration of the program management system.
  • Training & User Support Provide training and ongoing support to all end-user types across Capital Program systems. Develop and deliver role-appropriate training programs for the program management system. Serve as the ongoing support for system-related questions and issues.
  • Additional Systems Administration Administer all Project Controls software and computer systems within the Capital Program. Install and configure software specific to the Capital Program throughout the Division. Provide technical assistance on the operation and maintenance of Capital Program software and systems. Coordinate with Information Services to establish and monitor network access rights to Capital Program servers containing program data.

Expected Hiring Range:

$76,335.00 - $107,823.75

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
