Project Controls Specialist

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager the Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for compilation of project budgets and cost forecasts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining project cost control accounts
  • Assisting with project control schedule development, maintenance, and updates
  • Ensuring incurred costs are allocated to correct cost control accounts
  • Producing weekly cost and progress reports, by area, by contractor, and overall project
  • Preparing and analyzing deviations from cost forecasts
  • Assisting with producing cost monthly accruals information for financial reporting
  • Obtaining cost forecast information from project suppliers, consultants, and contractors
  • Checking progress claims and invoices prior to processing by accounts payable
  • Reconcile cost accounts in the Cost control tool and SAP
  • Compilation of formal monthly cost reports
  • Other related tasks as required by the project management team

Qualifications:

  • Ability and willingness to travel for site work rotations as this position is a site-based, fly in/fly out rotational position.
  • Minimum of 10 years in construction or mining projects with 5 years minimum experience in project controls.
  • Degree or diploma in construction, commerce, or engineering related field considered an asset.
  • Will consider a dynamic candidate without degree with considerable experience who is capable of handling the role.
  • Mining or heavy industrial construction experience considered an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of Cost control tools such as Unifier, other cost and scheduling software an asset.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be considered an asset.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft applications (Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Excellent planning, leadership, organization and communication skills
  • Self-starter and resourceful
  • Ability to communicate and interact within all levels of the organization, as well as with Vendors

The schedule for this position is based in a camp operation working on a rotational schedule with flights provided. The role may require remote work from time to time in accordance with business needs.
