Job Description

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking an experienced Project Controls Leader to provide leadership, technical direction, and oversight for a team of project controls professionals supporting engineering and construction projects across a diverse industrial client base. This role is responsible for ensuring excellence in cost control, estimating, scheduling, forecasting, project reporting, and project execution while fostering teammate development and delivering exceptional client service.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive project controls experience, and the ability to lead multiple complex projects and teams across multiple offices.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project controls professionals.
• Provide oversight of project controls deliverables, ensuring quality, accuracy, and consistency.
• Manage project cost control, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, progress metrics, and change management processes.
• Support project execution through effective planning, resource allocation, and performance tracking.
• Review and validate engineering and construction estimates while monitoring project financial performance.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Operations, project teams, and clients to achieve project objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement through the implementation of project controls best practices, systems, and technology.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development efforts.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related technical field preferred.
• Professional certifications related to Project Management, Planning, Scheduling, Estimating, or Cost Control are preferred.
• Minimum of 10+ years of industrial experience in project controls, cost control, estimating, scheduling, and project management.
• Demonstrated success leading project controls teams and supporting complex engineering and construction projects.
• Experience managing projects and teams across multiple offices and locations preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of project controls, cost management, estimating, scheduling, and forecasting.
• Experience supporting engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.
• Proven leadership, coaching, mentoring, and team development skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects while maintaining strong business judgment and attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong client relationship management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Experience developing and managing project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and performance metrics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and other project controls tools.
• Experience with cost estimating, resource planning, earned value management, and progress reporting.
• Ability to drive accountability, lead change, and leverage technology to improve project execution.

• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
