As a Project Controls Intern within Covestro Engineering NA, incumbents will support capital project execution by contributing to cost management, scheduling, and reporting activities that drive the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our production units. Candidates must be available for a 3-month assignment during the Summer of 2027 (late May to early August).

Related to this position, Covestro offers:

  • A team-based approach to support capital project planning and execution — including cost tracking, schedule development, change management, and performance reporting — with a goal to improve project outcomes at the Baytown site.
  • Continuous coaching & assistance — You'll work with passionate project control professionals and receive both training and feedback from your teammates and manager to help you apply your education to real-world project controls challenges on an active chemical production site.
  • Complex and meaningful work that may include developing and maintaining project schedules, tracking budgets and forecasts, preparing cost and schedule performance reports, supporting change control processes, and assisting with project close-out activities.
  • An opportunity to experience our sustainable approach to capital investment by contributing to projects that continuously improve our greenhouse gas emissions profile and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.

Additionally, the position offers:

  • Hands-on experience in project controls functions including cost engineering, scheduling, earned value management (EVM), and risk tracking within an operating chemical plant environment.

WHAT YOU OFFER

Basic Qualifications

More specifically related to this position, Covestro seeks an incumbent who possesses knowledge of and abilities to work in Engineering typically acquired by:

  • Enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program with a major in Construction Management, Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial), or a related field
  • Completion of Junior year
  • Overall GPA of 3.0

Preferred Qualifications

  • Desire to work and learn in an operating chemical plant
  • Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.
