Job Description

Project Controller

Drive transparency and performance across the IT project portfolio

Are you motivated by turning numbers into clear insights that help leaders make better decisions? As Project Controller in STARK Group IT, you will strengthen financial governance across our IT project and programme portfolio - ensuring robust reporting, reliable forecasts, and transparency versus approved investment cases.

You will work closely with Programme and Project Managers, the IT PMO, Group Finance, and local country finance teams to ensure high-quality portfolio oversight, proactive risk management, and string predictability in month-end and steering forums. The role includes approximately 15 travel days per year, primarily related to collaboration with stakeholders across locations.

Your impact – What you will deliver and how to be a success

In this role, you will strengthen the financial transparency, predictability, and governance of STARK Group IT’s project and programme portfolio. You operate at the intersection of finance and delivery, ensuring that financial data is not only accurate, but actively used to drive better decisions, prioritisation, and portfolio performance.

Your success is not defined by reporting itself, but by the impact your reporting creates. You bring clarity to complex project portfolios, challenge assumptions constructively, and ensure that stakeholders across IT and Finance share a common understanding of performance, risks, and trade-offs.

You will take ownership of the monthly financial cycle and act as a trusted finance partner to Programme and Project Managers, the IT PMO, and Finance. This means that you do not just report on performance - you actively shape it through insight, dialogue, and governance.

More specifically, you will be successful in this role when you:

  • Deliver monthly portfolio financials (actuals, accruals, forecasts and variances) on time, with high accuracy and clear, actionable explanations
  • Continuously improve forecast quality by proactively identifying risks and opportunities, and by challenging underlying assumptions
  • Ensure transparency and governance versus investment cases, including clear explanations of deviations and their impact
  • Build trust in the numbers with Programme and Project Managers by providing consistent, forward-looking insights that are actively used for decision-making
  • Secure accurate financial allocation (Capex vs. Opex) and alignment with Group Finance principles and reporting standards
  • Reduce surprises in month-end and steering forums by identifying and communicating financial risks early
  • Contribute to increasing portfolio controlling maturity, improving reporting structures, templates, and enabling stronger insights through tools like Power BI and automation

Beyond delivering high-quality financial reporting and governance, you will play a key role in strengthening how we work with portfolio controlling across Group IT. You will have the opportunity to shape reporting standards, improve ways of working, and develop towards a broader finance business partnering role, working closely with stakeholders across IT and Finance in an international setup.

What You Bring

You bring a solid financial foundation combined with a strong ability to collaborate across stakeholders in a dynamic IT environment. You are comfortable working with both detail and complexity, and you naturally connect financial insight with business impact.

Professional competencies

  • Experience within controlling/FP&A, project controlling, or portfolio reporting, ideally in an IT organisation
  • Strong skills in Excel and a solid flair for IT systems (Power BI and ERP knowledge is an advantage but not a requirement)
  • Fluent in Danish (or another Scandinavian language) and business-level English

Personal competencies

Alongside your technical foundation, your way of working and engaging with others is key to your success in this role. You bring structure and drive into your work, while also being able to challenge stakeholders in a constructive and collaborative way.

  • You are motivated by working in the intersection between finance and IT, and you thrive in a collaborative and professional environment
  • You are structured, analytical, and curious, with a proactive mindset
