Project Control Engineer I

The Project Control Engineer I is responsible for supporting Field Services projects through proposal development, cost estimation, and high-level scheduling. This role contributes directly to the success of project planning and execution by developing standard work scope documents, estimating outage durations and costs, and collaborating with Commercial Operations and Sales to prepare customer proposals. The position requires strong analytical and technical skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and work cross-functionally. Occasional travel is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Estimate Field Services outage durations and costs using cost estimating software.
  • Develop cost estimating templates and standardized scope documents.
  • Support Commercial Operations and Sales in the development of customer proposals.
  • Participate in negotiation and implementation meetings as needed.
  • Conduct site walkdowns for complex scopes to support accurate cost estimation.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure project estimates align with operational goals.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
  • Travel overnight (10% or more) by land and/or air as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating software and standard project management tools.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills including statistical analysis, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical data, drawings, schematics, and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and effectively present information to various stakeholders.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport required.

Physical & Safety Requirements

This role may involve lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with reasonable accommodations provided as needed. Work environments may be loud, and exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals may occur. Employees are expected to comply with MPSA and customer safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, hearing protection, and fall protection when applicable.
