Wood has an opportunity for a Project Control & Planning Manager based in Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia to provide planning, cost, scheduling and risk management expertise in support of a prospective project. This role will play a key part in bid development and project set‑up, ensuring cost, schedule, risk and resource requirements are clearly defined, robustly assessed and effectively communicated in readiness for execution.
The Project Control & Planning Manager will oversee the establishment and operation of all project controls systems, tools and interfaces, and will act as the primary focal point for the Project Manager, Client and Project Teams on all matters relating to cost, schedule, risk and resources.

The Project Control & Planning Manager is responsible for providing leadership, governance and technical oversight across all project controls functions to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with cost, schedule and quality objectives.
You will
- Lead all project controls activities (cost, schedule, risk and resources), acting as the primary focal point for the Project Manager, Client and Project Teams
- Develop and implement the Project Controls Execution Plan and establish all required systems, tools and reporting interfaces
- Manage and forecast project cost and schedule performance, including budgets, change control, critical path analysis and recovery planning
- Ensure accurate, timely and high quality reporting of project progress, KPIs, S curves, histograms and fully resourced, logic linked schedules
- Lead cost and schedule risk assessments, ensuring risks are identified, monitored and mitigated in line with project requirements
- Chair internal and client Project Controls meetings, ensuring alignment with contractual and reporting obligations
- Lead, coach and develop the project controls team, driving capability, compliance and continuous improvement
The successful candidate will bring a strong blend of project controls expertise, leadership capability and industry experience to effectively manage cost, schedule, risk and resources across complex projects. This will include:
- Bachelor’s degree (ISCED Level 6) in a relevant technical or business discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in project controls, including proven leadership and team management experience
- Demonstrated expertise in cost control, planning, scheduling, risk management, contracts and change management
- Sound understanding of engineering, procurement and construction execution environments
- High proficiency in project controls systems, tools and reporting methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex information
- Proven leadership, mentoring and stakeholder management capability in multidisciplinary project environments
