A Day in the Life
Our Project Compliance Scientist position is located in Orlando, FL
The Project Compliance Scientist provides direct support, under the direction of a Project Manager, to environmental projects. You will complete tasks assigned using applicable tools and skills to help develop, implement, and maintain management plans, procedures, and plans for our clients to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations. The position will be required to conduct fieldwork and calculations, prepare permits and regulatory documents, and assist with preparation of other environmental documents. This position applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education to explain facts, policies and practices related to job area.
The annual salary range for this role is $80K to $100K, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
Manages multiple projects simultaneously including providing technical support projects.
Prepare and manage permit applications for multiple media, including air quality, industrial wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste.
Conduct multi-media compliance audits and gap assessments to identify non-compliance areas and provide actionable recommendations.
Oversee the collection and analysis of environmental monitoring data to prepare technical reports for agencies like the EPA.
Oversee project set up and authorization paperwork to include: project authorizations, contracts, subcontracts, purchase order requests, and project schedules.
Oversee project financial management duties to include: project projections, project invoicing, subcontractor invoice approvals, progress reporting, and project/subcontractor contract compliance.
Lead and/or support projects, manage budgets and timelines, and maintain strong client relationships while pursuing new business opportunities.
Mentor junior scientists and engineers, providing quality assurance and technical reviews for their work products.
Ability to Work Effectively, both Independently and in a Team Setting
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs
Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts
Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops
Perform other duties as assigned
Your Expertise and Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or Chemistry from an accredited four-year college or university
5+ years of experience in field of study preferred
Preferred a Licensed PE or PG
40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
Knowledgeable of Regulatory Standards in Technical Area including Clean Water Act, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permitting, etc.
Outgoing / team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Strong project management, oral and written communication, time management skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Working knowledge of business software (Microsoft Office, Outlook)
